beannachtaí na féile pádraig!

when i was little, i looooved st. patrick's day. every march 17th, our teachers would bring us on a leprechaun hunt through the marsh just beyond the school grounds... unbeknownst to us, they had already been there hours earlier, planting green bits of fabric in the sticks of the beaver damns and leaving chocolate gold coins in the snow. each time we would find one of these planted clues, there would be a squeal of delight and and we would all resume searching with renewed zeal... we all wanted that pot of gold. i believed so much so that i would search the woods around my house after school... just in case...

it's a bit odd... i never believed in santa, or the tooth fairy, but i believed in leprechauns, complete with rainbows and pots of gold. it's also odd that in all those years, our teachers never taught us about saint partick... even now, i don't know a whole lot about him or the real meaning of the holiday. (queue wiki search...)

...but either way, as an irish man taught me to say this morning, beannachtaí na féile pádraig! and also a big happy birthday to my little sis...
