still no luck uploading photos... and it sucks because i have like, a million. every morning, i have been getting up between 5 and 6am to take long runs around the city... since berlin doesn't get up until well after the sun, everything is empty and beautiful.
today was the first day we've had to ourselves and it was met with much relief. i spent the morning at the neues museum with my room mate, where we saw (the bust of) nefertiti... one of the most beautiful pieces of art i have ever seen in the flesh. she was alone in a circular, domed room... turquiose walls, skylight above... her stare is alive, despite the damage of time... she faces the corridor down which helios stares back at her from his own dome-shaped room. no photography is allowed in her area, but i stole a shot anyway, for which i got in trouble. when i am able to post photos, i will most definietly post that one.
the rest of the day was spent enjoying berlin... i parted ways with danielle (roomie) and ventured here to shop and explore. i think that area is kind of like berlin's willamsburg, minus the trust fund midwesterners... it seems there, they don't feel like life is all about trying so hard. anyway, it was relaxing and lovely and i picked up a few style notes to take back to nyc with me.
and now i am watching bayern and schalke in some super-cup action. soccer seems a lot less present here in berlin than i expected... but perhaps i haven't been to the right places.
the past few days have been intense... but i will reflect on that later... right now, i have to go to dinner.
ps. i apologise for the misspellings and bad grammer. i am in a hurry and the spell check doesn't work on blogger here.
