mmm food.

despite being vegan, i always enjoy eating while traveling. people don't generally sing the praises of british food... and in the traditional sense, i wouldn't either... but there is plenty of very good food to be had in london, as in most cities, really. ellie took me to a couple of lovely places, most notably, the riding house cafe, but the best thing i ate on this trip was a bean burger from gourmet burger kitchen. i know, i know... it's a chain... but that burger was like... heaven. maybe it was because i was starving, but i don't think so... it was one of the highlights of my trip. for real. another notable was the above sorbet at some italian place where tim and i had lunch. it was delicious... and cute. i had a hard time eating it because i didn't want to ruin the perfect, sweet little bit of togetherness happening between the pink and white scoops.

anywayyyy.

eataly.

today... finally, sunshine. and amy and i ventured to eataly. now, i am not one to believe the hype, and actually, i had read several unsavory reviews... so i went in with no expectations. and i was so pleasantly surprised... i loved it. loved it. it was was well designed, well organized, and everything looked deliciously beautiful. i was confused by the reviews of the people who had said eataly was... confusing. as far as i could see, everything was clearly marked and organized... there was even extensive information on origins/uses/whatnot of many of the products. and again, everything looked delicious. i am vegan and i was about ready to give it up for a taste of the freshly made, cheese filled pasta. (i didn't). we carefully explored every nook, coming to the conclusion that we would return for a meal very soon. i say batali, the two bastianichs, and farinetti got it exactly right.

ps. contrary to what others say, i think the name is cute.
